La communauté française et hongkongaise était nombreuse à venir soutenir l’initiative de Mayaa Népal à Hong Kong qui fêtait ce 20 mai ses 10 ans avec un grand concert de charité au profit des enfants défavorisés. Une pléiade de musiciens de toutes nationalités ont participé à cet événement.

The French and Hong Kong community was numerous to come and support Mayaa Nepal’s initiative in Hong Kong, which celebrated its 10th anniversary on May 20 with a large charity concert for the benefit of underprivileged children. Musicians of all nationalities participated in this event.

For 10 years for education in Nepal

Fondée en 2012 par Nicole Sicard, une institutrice de Hong Kong à la retraite touchée par la misère de ce pays, l’association offre une chance aux enfants laissés sur le côté de la route par le sous-développement chronique au Népal. À Katmandou, Mayaa Népal intervient dans plusieurs écoles des bidonvilles et les zones défavorisées. Dernièrement, l’association a étendu ses activités à Hong Kong pour soutenir les enfants de migrants récents dans les Nouveaux Territoires.

Founded in 2012 by Nicole Sicard, a retired teacher from Hong Kong affected by the poverty of this country, the association offers a chance to children left behind by chronic underdevelopment in Nepal. In Kathmandu, Mayaa Nepal works in several schools in slums and underprivileged areas. Recently, the association has extended its activities to Hong Kong to support the children of recent migrants in the New Territories.

Ils étaient 45 ayant répondu à l’appel de l’équipe d’organisation de Mayaa Népal à Hong Kong, solistes, duettistes ou jouant en groupes, les plus jeunes âgés de 10 ans comme la jeune violoniste Raphaelle Au ou encore 14 pour Enzo, finaliste de The Voice Kids et de l’Eurovision Junior. De l’opéra classique dans le cas de Lovina Hui et Tracy Chan en passant par le chant accompagné au piano de Jade Henninot jusqu’au tango du groupe Café 852 et le rock de la formation On The Rocks (Chorus Band). Enfin, c’est la Fanfare Electrogène Club qui a achevé d’entrainer la salle avec Bella Chao et Emmenez-moi. Une belle réussite pour cette dernière édition du concert de charité de Mayaa Népal.

They were 45 who responded to the call of the Mayaa Nepal organization team in Hong Kong, including solo players, duos or bands, the young violinist Raphaelle Au being only 10 and Enzo, finalist of The Voice Kids and Eurovision Junior, 14 years olds. The show went from classical opera with Lovina Hui and Tracy Chan, singing accompanied on the piano by Jade Henninot to tango dancing with the group Café 852 or even rock music with On The Rocks (Chorus Band). Finally, Fanfare Electrogène Club took the audience into dancing with famous Bella Chao and Take Me Away. Such a great success for this latest edition of Mayaa Nepal’s charity concert.

La salle était pleine ce vendredi 20 mai, démontrant, s’il en était besoin, la mobilisation des Français et Hongkongais au service de la cause de l’éducation des enfants défavorisés. Très tôt, il n’était plus possible de se procurer des billets, et ceux malgré la relâche des capacités à Hong Kong de 85% des salles. Gageons que cet élan de générosité continuera au travers des différentes actions de l’association qui organise aussi des ventes d’uniformes de deuxième main pour le Lycée Français et propose aussi les parrainages des enfants au travers de son site internet.

The room was full this Friday, May 20, showing, if necessary, the mobilization of French and Hong Kong people for the cause of education for disadvantaged children. Very early, it was no longer possible to obtain tickets, despite the release of Hong Kong venues to 85%. Let’s bet that this generosity will continue through the various actions of the association which also organizes sales of second-hand uniforms for the French School and proposes the sponsorship of children on its website.
